yay! so, unlike my clapotis, this is a totally finished object. i wove in the ends and everything! LOL. (and no....i still haven't woven in the ends of my clapotis....still waiting for those fairies to do it)

anyway...this is the kirsten dunst pithy hat. it was so simple and worked up quite quickly (at least....quick for me....i only worked on it on breaks at work).

so, i've been thinking of what i want to sell in my etsy shop and decided to make a couple of sets of stitch markers. i have one set in my shop right now, and i'll add the other sets soon. i figure it would be best to add one thing to my shop per day, just to kind of help my stuff be seen. i think if you add it all at once, it gets lost in the miasma of crafts that get posted on that site.

anyway...blogger's being a pain and won't let me post pics, but you can check out my shop to see the pics. i call them 'ice queen' and they're part of a special series of markers i'm going to call 'lucky 7's'. i've noticed most people only sell their markers in sets of 4 or 5, so i thought it would be nice to add a few more so people will have matching sets when they need to use a lot of markers (like the clapotis.....i think it calls for 14 markers lol....)

yay! i'm so excited :D i finally finished with the knitting part of my clapotis. its so bright and cheery and now i can't WAIT for it to get cold! i've been trying on it several different ways, but i'm not sure i'll use it so much as a shawl. i'm more of a scarf person :) all i need to do to finishe is weave in all the ends from the 6 balls of artyarns supermerino i used to knit this baby :)

so it's slow going...but that could be due to the fact that every other week i've had to deal with sinus problems and allergies. for the past week i've had a sinus infection made worse by the rain and humid weather. i'm feeling much better now, though, and have been a knitting fool since i don't have to stop every 3 seconds to blow my nose haha :D

my clapotis is nearing its completion. i have 3 repeats of the decrease and then the last section to go. i'm quite excited about it :D

i've also started on the kirsten dunst pithy hat (spiderman version) its funny....i'm using the almost EXACT same colorway as what was used to knit the original. and i didn't even mean to! i just loved the colors and thought they were very fall inspired :) i'm using koigu kppm (you may ask yourself....will she ever use that darn yarn for socks? not until i learn sock knitting, my friends.....) because its slightly stretchy and the gauge goes well with my insanely tiny skull.

and, well.....its koigu.

in other news:
i've recently taught a co-worker to knit and SHE IS OBSESSED! its so great! someone like me! we're taking a trip to yarns2ewe and possibly yarntopia (we have to see how we're doing on time...its hard to make plans with one's co-workers...they usually work when you don't :( ). we're also bringing along a hooking co-worker...maybe we can bring her over to the dark side (insert evil maniacal laugh here). but then again, i did ask her to teach me a bit of crochet since i bought the happy hooker but have yet to understand it. hooray for random dense-ness!

tomorrow will be a day in yarn history. wish me luck, friends :)

soo...by now i'm sure you've realized i'm no good at deadlines. i THINK i realized why i wasn't able to finish anything for a while.....TV. yes i sit and knit and watch tv...but then i start getting so into the show i'm not able to finish what i'm knitting and it gets put to the side. right now, i have no tv.
daniel and i never got cable installed here at the new place :) we tend to watch a lot of anime and movies now, so i have a bit more time to knit.

i STILL don't have any FO's, BUT BUT BUT! i do have some pictures of some almost FO's and WIP'S :D buckle your seatbelts!

first up we have the almost finished anthropologie inspired capalet. i just need to finish knitting the other sleeve (which i didn't start because silly me forgot to count how many rows i knit for the first sleeve.....D'OH!) then seam them and sew the loose ends. its too hot to wear right now, anyway. in case you don't remember, i'm making this in moda dea cache in the smartie colorway. i've used just under 4 balls of it (there will be enough left over for a cute wrist cuff or something :)

next up is CLAPOTIS!!! i just had to jump on the bandwagon and start this. there's a KAL on crafster and after seeing all the beautiful finished ones there, i had to start my own. the only thing is the color! the yarn i chose is NOT something i'd normally pick out for myself. it just screamed clapotis to me for some reason. i'm actually quite enjoying the colors and the pattern. i'm going to see my mom monday, and if she likes it i'll have to knit her a super secret one for christmas. shhh don't tell! i chose to splurge (haha for me its splurging....) and use artyarns supermerino in colorway103. its bright and cheery and reminds me of the beach for some reason :)
these pictures are the best i could do with no natural lighting....the color of the yellow is more ripe banana than green and RIPENING banana....but you get the idea. its laced with a really pretty pink and bright green and is darkened in small bits by a great burghandy/brownish color. i'm really enjoying how it looks!

ok wait....i lied earlier on in this post.....i do have ONE teeny weensy little FO.... i made a cable! i use old tin cans as my needle holders to artfully display my needle collection and i wanted to jazz them up a bit. so i thought 'what better way to learn to cable' than to make a cute little can cozy :) its made with good old wool ease in a nice turqoise color. the picture doesn't do it justice at all...its much brighter in RL :)

so that's whats been going on with me! i've got 3 more balls to go to finish my clapotis, and measly sleeve to finish my capalet, and i'm sure i'll start something else here soon....my fingers are itching for projects!! i'm really wanting to try my hand at entrelac, but i'm not quite sure how advanced that is compared to my current knitting status. cables weren't as hard as i thought they would be, so i'm looking for a slightly more advanced cable to make a cute purse with. i'm definately going to try out 'fetching' from knitty as soon as i find some pretty yarn to work with :) i just have such tiny hands that i'm sure they won't fit me! i'm no good at figuring gauge LOL. ah well...live and learn, right?

ok so i didn't do so hot with setting a time limit on my last knit, but this time i'm going to get it done :) i started back up on my anthropologie capalet thingie and i'm going to have it finished by sunday. i've been working on it on and off since saturday, and should have it done by sunday. i know this isn't the time limit i had originally set for it, but i feel this limit is a bit more reasonable. :)

i'll post pics when i'm done :) i'm so excited!! i'm nearing the end of it.....my very first wearable knitted item :)

update:

i did not make my deadline for the belt. my allergies have been so horrible lately that the past few days i've spent with fevers and headaches and wanting to do nothing but sit and veg out. although in my favor i did buckle down for the few days i was feeling well and got quite a bit of the boring pattern part out of the way. tomorrow when i get home from work i'm going to take a sinus pill and get the damn thing finished LOL.

ok i've just remembered that miss catherine of Knittin' Notes has a sort of KAL/Contest type thing running where you challenge yourself to finish an item within a certain amount of days. just what i need to get stuff done!!

so here we go. i am officially setting myself some K's.
bridgetown belt (the old one. gonna finish it BEFORE i start a new one) K6

now....you may ask yourself which one i'm starting with and when i'm starting. keep asking because i'm not sure yet :P hahahaha. i'm thinking i'll start with the bridgetown belt because i can take it to work with me and the pattern is pretty easily remembered.

OFFICIAL NOTICE:
i will be starting my bridgetown belt tomorrow evening and will have it finished by sunday July 2nd. this should be totally possible for me seeing as i have 2 days off, plus one whole day where i don't go in to work until late :) wish me luck!!

daniel has agreed to learn to crochet with me. i about died when he agreed to this! i recently purchased 'the happy hooker' so i could expand my knowledge of the yarn arts (and also because the patterns in it are REALLY cute!). so yea. i'm excited :D

on another note....spank me. i'm so bad....i bought more yarn! i think this is going to be the last bit of yarn i buy for a while though. i need to start using up what i have. so i've decided to knix the socklets and the psychadelic afghan and start on a few other things first.
i have a TON of sugar 'n' cream so i'm going to start using some of that up. i've decided to do the saturday market bag from the new magknits (i might do two or three of these so i can have an easy way to bring my groceries in from my car) and the pretty in pink tank.

i also bought some self stripin baby yarn by bernat in blue and white to do the pinwheel baby blanket. i started it and got a little done, but had to frog it because my yo's weren't matching up correctly....so i'll start that again soon.

i also started working on the bridgetown belt from the spring IK. i thought it would be perfect to have for when i need to take a quick trip to the grocery store or for when i'm going thrift store shopping (i hate carrying a purse when i go to these places...it aways pulls on my shoulder and causes unnessecary back pain :( ) (http://interweave.com/knit/interweave_knits/preview/2006_spring.asp scroll down towards the bottom to see a picture of it....)

I HAVE A NEW BABY BROTHER!!!! my stepmom gave birth early early sunday morning and i have a new baby brother :) his name is jacob wesley :) i can't wait to get down there to see him and take some pictures to show you all :) i'm so excited!!

WIP update time!

so i started on some little socklet things that i've been looking at making for a while. the instructions are really confusing, but i'm bound and determined to finish them! i'm just using some acrylic sock yarn as a trial. if i like how they turn out, maybe i'll buy some nicer sock yarn.

here's the leaf edging i was making. i'm going to probably want to block it so the leaves stand out a bit more. this is going to be tacked onto the bottom of a shelf as a decorative edge :D i'm excited to see how it looks!! i'm almost through with it :) don't you LOVE the colors? its just plain 'ole sugar 'n' cream cotton!

is that.....could it be? it is! its KATE from knitty!! sans ears and arms. i finished the body a good while back and have yet to finish the rest. i should probably get on that, huh?

and what is that with her? is that the......

well i've not decided what i want to do with my koigu. catherine that kerchief was beautimous!! but i just don't think i'd wear something like that personally. my head is too tiny to wear it on my head, and i'm more of a scarf gal. thanks for the idea though!! *le sigh* guess i'll just have to hold off until i find the perfect pattern :) maybe soon i'll come into a little extra money and can purchase more than one hank.....and possibly make a tank or something out of it to show off the beautiful colors :D

in the meantime...i joined the lonestar knitters yahoo group and someone had posted a link to cascade patterns. i found two that i would LOVE to do!! (warning! these are links to pdf's!) this lacy crossover. isn't it adorable??
and this really interesting vest. (though i'd want to add some sort of tie or buttons to it.....)

in other news, i made another pixel doll :) i think she turned out weird, but kind of cool :D she was made for someone who gave me a picture to work off of. it was a picture of a frog with wings. i just used the same color scheme and worked off the idea of a frog princess type thing.

so. i bought some koigu kppm yesterday. in this colorway.
its beautimus. i want to roll around naked on top of it.

*tires screeching*

ok that was a bit far. but it is quite luxurious! i only had enough for one hank, but i love the colors of it. mine is a bit brighter that the one in the link i posted up there. the pink, yellow, and turqoise are all a bit more springy and bright. i'm not sure what i want to knit with it yet! i was thinking socks, but.....i don't wear shorts often, and i'd like them to show. hmm. any ideas?

so anyway, i've been working on this really cool idea of mine. not long ago i bought 200 knitted blocks on clearance at hobby lobby because i thought it would be a good resource (which it has!). in the back of the book it has patterns for edgings...one of which is a very cool leaf edging that my boyfriend thought was neat looking. more on this in a moment...

not long ago my boyfriend and i went to ikea and bought a very plain bookshelf (it has five shelves and is tall and not too wide....and cheap!). it doesn't even have a stain or anything (we're going to paint it hopefully). it is kind of an eyesore at the moment, but i thought knitting long strands of the leaf edging and somehow tacking it around the bottom of each shelf would be so neat looking and also add a bit of design to an otherwise snoozing bookshelf! once my camera batteries are charged (the charger is in a box somewhere....still not totally unpacked haha) i'll take pics and let you all see what i mean. i can't wait to see how it turns out!

that's about all for now. i changed my blogger layout, finally added my own personal banner, and added a few things (like my imood indicator :)

so i'm not sure if any of you know this, but i enjoy drawing as one of my hobbies. i make these things called pixel dolls....basically someone makes what's called a base (its just a naked body), then you take that base and draw clothing and hair and shoes and whatever else your little head can think of. there are a range of programs people use....from regular old MSpaint to photoshop or paint shop pro....anything that allows you to pixel.

so anyway....i've been making them for quite some time now. sometimes i'll enter one or two into a contest someone is having on their website....which is what i did recently. i made this doll:

its based off of an RP character of mine named Luthien. She has long purple hair and is an elf (yea...i'm a nerd....are you just now finding this out? haha!)

anyway...i drew her for fun because i really liked the base and thought it was perfect for my character. i entered it into the contest and won first place!

so yea. enough about that ;) so i've been slacking a little with my knitting (*gasp!*) but what's new ;) i was going to start on that blanket for my soon to be little brother, but got side-tracked making him some tiny washcloths instead. i guess my knitting-span (attention span that is) is a little short-lived at the moment. i can't seem to work on any large projects to save my life. anyway...here are the little buggers...i still haven't woven in the ends haha...i'll do them all at once...makes life easier :)

its just a simple eyelet pattern. i thought something simple would be best for a baby boy :) they're just made out of simple sugar n' cream :) i love that stuff! cheap and cute colors :D

i also went down to freeport to visit with my grandmother the other day. we went into tuesday morning to just look around and ended up buying a bunch of crap! that ALWAYS happens when we shop together ;) anyway she bought me a cute moon shaped birdfeeder for my new porch and some neat yarn. the batteries in my camera died as i was trying to take a picture of it...but once i get them charged i'll put a pic up. she bought it to make her, my mom, and my aunt something neat :) i'll probably whip them up some simple eyeglass cases or something easy :)

anyway...not much else going on. i think i'm going to head back over to Y2E to pick up some sock yarn and try my hand at that. daniel's been bugging me for socks, and i'd like to try this socklet pattern. (warning: its a PDF file)

so that's whats going on! i do wish i lived closer to yarntopia...i'd love to get out there sometime and meet the sweet miss amylovie! i wanted to thank you and miss catherine for being avid readers of my blog and giving such great comments and support. thank you both!!

just a quick little update this time. i just got home from work about 20 minutes ago (its currently 2am. yippee.) and i'm still a little wired from all the coffee i drank...so i thought i'd be a little productive and give another little update :)

my stepmom is pregnant with a boy. yes you heard right....i'm 26 and my stepmom is about to have a child. its weird, i know, but she's still kind of young (only 10 years older than i am....she deserves to have as many kiddos as she wants i suppose). and before you ask, my dad is kind of young as well. he was only 17 when i was born. young parents....
so anyway, i was thinking of knitting up a little blanket and some cute washcloths for them. i'm thinking this blanket would be cute...but smaller. i probably won't have it finished by the time my little brother is born, but he won't know ;)

i forgot to mention that i bought some yarn at Y2E when i was there. i couldn't resist....it was some very interesting stuff. one of the balls was a brand called R2...its a nylon tape yarn in white. its very soft and really interesting. the other is a tape yarn as well....but its got a print of black and pink flowers on it. i'm thinking i want to make something special...but not sure what. i only have a little of each kind...less of the print than the white. i'm sure i'll figure out something cool to do with it :)

*le sigh* i'm also going to have to either: a) get a second job or b) get a different FULL TIME job near my apt. i'm getting less and less hours at starbuck's and its making me angry seeing as i have to drive 30 minutes to and from work (an hour driving total....). my manager knows this, but for some reason doesn't think to give me any more hours....especially since its her fault i haven't been able to transfer yet. i pass 2 starbucks on my way to work and there are at least 6 around my house. but she claims she has to hire someone to take my place and then train them and then file for my transfer and find a store that has an opening....blah blah blah. ah well. i kind of wanted a new job anyway.....that store is too stressful....especially since its a drive-through and i'm ALWAYS on drive-through. i also dislike having to come in at 4:30 am one day and 4:30 PM the next.....my body can't handle that kind of drastic sleep change. maybe when i was 18 or 19....but i put too much stress on myself and it's aged me.

i just realized i'm rambling. like i said....too much coffee! haha :)
alrighty i'm going to go try and get some rest now. i'll give another update once i've either finished a washcloth or started on the blanket :) maybe hopefully i'll finish that capalet and isabeau purse that are in my wip's list as well ;)

ok ok so i decided NOT to change blogs. the other requires too much work, so i'm just going to stick with blogger.

i've been trying to eliminate the things that cause me stress. i started having bad anxiety attacks and am having trouble sleeping. therefore the other blog must die LOL.

so anyway....i've had a new FO recently :) my first one since....god...i dunno. since forever.

it matches my mood at the moment. cheerful and hopeful and springy and fuzzy. the pattern is from 25 bags to knit and the yarn is some crap i found at hobby lobby that turned out to not be crap after all :P

my boyfriend and i moved into a new apartment inside the loop. we're enjoying it thouroughly. we were both tired of all the stupid people in sugarland (no offense if that's where you are...i didn't say they were all stupid....).
it seems the people out here are so much nicer. hell, even the workers at the wendy's we went to for lunch today were as nice as could be, chatting us up and smiling. its so rare to find that now-a-days. it makes me feel good.

not to mention i'm about 5 minutes from yarns 2 ewe. i stopped in there today. i'm not sure if their prices were fair...but i know quite a few people shop there and enjoy their products. maybe i'm just poor and used to $1.25 balls of sugar'n'cream cotton LOL. i'll need a second job to support my yarn habit.....maybe a job in a yarn store? haha....i'd take yarn instead of money ;)

anyway. things are going better and looking up and i hope i'll be updating more often. the anxiety seems to have worn away a little bit....i'm still chipping away at it and trying to simplify my life as much as possible.

when i opened it there was an awesome letter inside :)

and a pattern for the booga bag !! i always wanted to make one......

on top was this really cute japanese candy !! i wanted to rip it open and eat one then and there...but i haven't had breakfast yet :) isn't the little pig so cute ?

hi all!
well i didn't get to go on my interview today. i'm not feeling well, so i called to see if i could reschedule. i won't get to interview until monday now :( that sucks because i was really looking forward to it, but i just can't pull myself together today lol. oh well. gives me more time to prepare i suppose.

anyway so here's the update: i have an interview with william's sonoma on thursday! WOOT! i'm so excited :) i was in there today and the manager was asking me why i chose to apply with them and i told her that i really love to cook and i'm constantly watching the food network. she seemed really surprised LOL but asked me to come in for an interview :D *dances around like a fool*

wish me luck! i sure could use it :D

hi all! sorry i haven't been posting as much as i should be. i haven't really had any FO's lately. i've been slacking off a bit. i've been working on this ribbed for her pleasure scarf out of the snb book for forever, and just can't seem to finish. same with the baby's first tattoo. i also have a beach bag i'm knitting, but i can't seem to finish that either. what's going on here?!?! i have can'tfinish-itis. does anyone have a cure?

i do have a new craft i'm getting into. i did my first embroidery recently :D i LOVE how it turned out and can't wait to do more.
this was done on a bandana i bought. i'm just going to stitch a bunch of stuff on it for practice, then i plan on getting some tea towels to embroider for christmas gifts :) i love how creative i can get with this.
btw this is something i drew onto the bandana. freehand embroidery :) fun stuff !!

in other news. i am no longer a redhead. i've been dying my hair red since....well....as long as i can remember. i've been every shade imaginable. from bright to orangey. last night, i went brown. i was getting sick of red. i'll get some pictures of it so you guys can see :) i love how it looks, and my boyfriend does as well. :D at least now i don't have to feel self conscious about my eyebrows being brown........

well, i'm still job-hunting. i had an interview with godiva that seemed promising, but it is part time work and i'll only get 6.75 an hour. that's not enough for anything. i have bills to pay and things to buy. i can't do it on 6.75/hr. william's sonoma was out of applications when i went in, but i took them my resume and they want me to come in on monday to fill out an application they had faxed over from another store. so that looks promising. the assistant manager was asking me all sorts of questions and seemed interested in me, so i hope that works out :) i LOVE that store hehe (but i do love to cook :P)

well, that's really all that's going on right now in my boring life.

i finished the scarf! i made it up all on my own :) it was done, not in seed stitch like i thought...but that double sided stockinette (can't think of what that's called right now....long day lol). i used sugar 'n' cream cotton in the shaded denim colorway (still reminds me of sailboats more then denim....). this scarf was knit lengthwise, instead of the normal way. i just cast on quite a few stitches and and k1, p1 on every row just repeating that pattern until i had the right width i was looking for. then i bound off. :)

pretty simple thing, and i liked how it looked, but it needed a little more oomph :D so i added the pretty beads and shells to the ends as a kind of fringe.

all in all i'm quite please with how it turned out :) i really hope my SE pal likes it!

*and yes my shirt says spooning leads to forking. great, huh? :P

here's the second beginning of the baby's first tattoo. it is very thin yarn and very small needles...so it makes for tedious work. the funny thing is that the only needles i could find in the size i need are the same exact color as the light purple yarn shown in the picture lol. it blends together :D i can't wait to get this one done...its going to be so cute !! my cousin is having a little girl, and instead of typical pinks and pastels and puke, she requested deep purple, and i thought that light color would set it off nicely as the border and the swallows. i can't wait to see the look on her face :D

no its not a ruffley scarf....its the lengthwise scarf i'm making for my scarf pal! the colors are a little off in this picture...but they are a really nice summery blue and cream. it reminds me of sailboats for some reason :) i can't wait to finish this!

so i've started a few new things. and finished one thing :)
i don't have pictures...those will come tomorrow when its not so dark and i'm not so lazy :P

i finished a really cute chevron dishcloth. its in jewel tones (mostly purples).

i've started my scarf exchange scarf. i don't want to give too much away, seeing as she could be reading this right now! its so exciting making something for someone i don't even know. i'm also kind of making this pattern up on my own. instead of knitting it width-wise, i'm knitting it lengthwise and in seed stitch (which i have grown to LOVE. its so earthy and homemade looking...i just hope she likes it too!) i will definately post up pictures when i get a chance :)

i'm also more than likely going to have to start over on the baby's first tattoo from snb. i got mad at it. but! i have at least 5 months to finish it lol :)

that's about it for right now! i'm going to try and get some pictures up tomorrow :)

so. some new wips. the first is a baby booty ! i found out my cousin cara is pregnant with a little girl, so i'm making her a few pairs of baby booties and i'm going to try out the 'baby's first tattoo' from the snbn book. here's the first of the booties modeled by the lovely Buster.

this is a scarf i'm working on. i think. i'm not really sure if i like it though. i was going to give it a rockabilly type feel, with hearts and swallows and cherries......but can you tell what that second pattern is? and can you see that i did the second one backwards from the first? i don't really feel like starting over though.....but i might have to.

ok well here it is :) i'm pretty pleased with how it turned out :D

what i learned, and what i'll do different next time:
i learned how to felt an object and how bad the yarn stinks when its wet ;)
next time i'll make sure to make the opening slightly bigger so the wooden handles don't crowd the space and make it a little difficult to open.

i felted that purse for my mom!! it's not quite as 'felty' as i expected it to be, but that's ok because if i had put it through the cycle again, it would have shrunk up to nothing! when i was making it, i didn't take into consideration that it would shrink when felted. it still looks cool :) its slightly felted and through the fuzz you can see bits of yarn peeking through. i love it :)

i'll post pics as soon as the batteries on my camera are through charging :)

so. i decided to change everything up. i get tired of looking at the same ol thing all the time, and i'm sure you guys do as well. (those of you who read my blog, anyway lol)

i like brown. i hope you do too :)
why brown? it reminds me of the earth. of soil and sand and green things growing. of my boyfriend's eyes and all the love i see in them. of chocolate which makes me happy. and of my ancestry. (how does brown remind you of your ancestry? bluejacket. look it up)

anyway....enough about that. i finally finished a project that was all for me. i made a really cute washcloth for myself. and my next thing is going to be a bath pillow. i'm going to design a bath pillow for myself :) hooray for comfy garden tubs !! :D

PS. after procrastinating forever on this.....i think i'm finally going to felt that damn purse i made for my mom. after giving it to her, she decided to use it that very day while we went shopping. well the damn thing just kept sagging and sagging and getting longer and longer. so. felting heaven here i come !!

i've been away for a while

i'm really sorry that i've been MIA for the past month. i had a lot of stress at work......but now i don't have to worry about it because i don't have a job anymore. that's right....i was fired. my manager was just out to get me. she was writing me up for every LITTLE thing i did wrong. (yet other employees were doing the same and not getting even a slap on the hand......and there was no good excuse.....)ugh. so now i'm on a desperate search for a new job. the horrible thing is that rent is due on the 1st and insurance is due on the 11th.........

so that's where i've been. i'm sure most of you probably think another one bites the dust (in the knitting department that is lol.), but i've been knitting to keep myself sane. there was one FO that i didn't get a picture of, because i had to finish it quickly and give it away quickly (to a girl that i worked with who was leaving us..........who happened to cause a lot of problems for me after she left....i wanted to all her and ask for the FO back lol).

i'm still working on the scarf for my dad. i keep getting a significant amount done, then i'll realize i dropped a stitch and have to backtrack quite a bit. i get too confident and think i can watch tv instead of my stitches. oh well. i'll learn one day :)

i also started a new washcloth pattern. i'll get a picture up as soon as i can :) its very summery cotton yarn in green, blue, and yellow :) i love it! my boyfriend picked it out hehe :)

anyway.....this is a very long post...i apologize. just wanted to give you all a little update :)

well i've been working a lot this week so not much time for knitting or blogging. my ribbed scarf had to be frogged and started over. and the washcloth i'm working on for my manager is going slowly. i'm kind of making it up as i go. knitting with reckless abandon if you will. ;)
i've been doing a lot of thinking also. last week i found out that a girl i went to school with and was very close to for a number of years (say like 4th grade until we graduated....not as much during high school. but we would still talk in classes and stuff...) died from crones disease. i have another friend with crones that i'm pretty close to, so this scares me.
monday i found out that a very close friend to the family died. he was an older man, and he had come down with pnemonia (spelling???). i feel bad because i can't make it to the funeral OR the wake. i didn't make it to jenny's funeral or wake either.

well i need to go now.

i'm such a beginner. i was at work today and i pulled out my washcloth wip and was ready to start knitting when i realized that i forgot my pattern at home! an hour away............
so i decided to try and remember the pattern. i got the first line right, and was so proud of myself, i just knew i remembered the second line......but i didn't. it said to K4, P2....instead i K2 P4 :(
oh well.....its just a minor setback :) i should be able to finish it tomorrow :D

ON ANOTHER, MORE HAPPY NOTE:
i saw on the knitty board that midnight sky fibers is having a sale on all her yarn! so i went and picked up the narcassistic unicorn and the pure evil. actually just one skein of each, but i wish i could buy it all! i'm so excited !! this will be my first time using handspun. it will more than likely sit in my stash for a while until i feel like i'm good enough to use it :) my dad's birthday is coming up.....maybe i'll make him something nice :D

i bought some new yarn! 2 skeins of sugar'n cream in twilight ombre and coral swirl, and one skein of bernat cottontots in koolade. they are all 100% cotton which i thought would be soft on the face for those washcloths :) i also got a pair of bamboo needles (size 8us). i'm excited about those because all of my other needles are metal (um not sure exactly what they're made of haha....hooray newbie)

wow this picture is fuzzy! well this is the close up of my new yarn :D i can't wait to use it! the pink in the corner is actually a very nice coral color which is to be made into a washcloth for mi mama for mother's day. the bottom right corner is green, lavendar, white, and tan for one of my associates, and the top is for me :) nice green, yellow, blue, and white :)

i've decided to start a new project :) i'm going to see if i can make 4 washcloths and 2 wristcuffs for my co-workers. now i just need to go get red, black, and white yarn. (that seems to be everyone's favorite color combination where i work lol) i think the washcloth pattern i'm going to test out is this pattern. i just like the texture on it and it looks quite easy. once i get the hang of that one, i'll try out this one. i like the wavy pattern on it :D i can't wait to get started !!

i know this blog should be about knitting only, but i have so many other things i enjoy to do. in a previous post i mentioned making jewelry for quite some time now. i also make bookmarks :) this is a necklace i made recently for myself :) my mom and all her friends want one now :) i just tie the two ends around my neck and go ! (kind of like a scarf). i also have a series of bookmarks i did in the shell and natural colored bead motif. (i gave them all out though).

here's my second wip. some of you beginners may be familiar with this :) its the cell phone cozy out of the s'n'b book. this one i'm making for my grandmother because she thought it was a cool idea :) next i'm going to try and tackle some sample afghan squares to get the hang of some different stitch types.
the yarn used here is bernat softee baby in lemon, red heart soft baby in lime and new mint....all acrylic (when i decided to start knitting, the hobby lobby was closed for the day and wal-mart was the only place open in my small town with yarn :) or else i wouldn't have bought ALL acrylic yarn.)
